We hope our leaders took the time to write down and then share your insights from the 7k Leadership Summit with your teams. There were so many great lessons focused around building our 7k team; one of our favorites was the phrase ‘empower rather than enable’.

Many times it’s easier to just do the hard thing for someone rather than teaching them to do it themselves, but when we do that, we steal the opportunity to learn from the person we’re trying to help. The only way to learn is by doing. And as leaders, our job is to patiently stand beside those we are teaching and to encourage and uplift them even when they struggle. Only then can they gain confidence and learn that they are capable of doing new and scary things.

Now is the time to apply these lessons, 7k leaders! Teach your people, guide them, and we’ll see you next year at the 2024 Leadership Summit.

2023 Summit: That's a Wrap

If there’s one takeaway from 7k Leadership Summit 2023 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, it’s that 7k is a team with many different parts. Not one is more important than another; every one adds to the whole’s success. Like a sports team, we need every teammate to recognize the mission, believe in the goal, and fulfill their role if we want to win.

Wednesday: Arrival & Registration

7k leaders arrived in Idaho Falls Wednesday evening for event registration and hotel check-in. From there, they went to dinner, mingled, and admired the picturesque view from the Hilton Garden Inn’s back patio: the glittering blue waters of the Snake River winding off into the distance behind a thick blanket of autumn leaves.

After enjoying a bit of getting to know each other and welcoming any newcomers, they finally tucked in for the night to get some quality rest for the beginning of the conference the next morning.

Thursday: Tours, Teaching, and Training

In the hotel conference room, 9 AM sharp, the Leadership Summit began. CEO Jayson Arfmann kicked things off with a welcome message and an introduction to the employees and teams in 7k who make things happen behind the scenes.

7k leader Mark Michaud dropped some truth bombs about empowering our team members rather than enabling them, and after a memorable coin drop (sorry guys, you had to be there!) we heard some more great tips from our wise Directors of Field Development, whom with many of you have personally connected and come to know and love: Timothy Schmalbeck and Benny Kofe. After a couple of hard-hitting lessons taught by our Co-Founders Richard Hansen and Josh Anderson, we took a quick bus ride to the 7k Headquarters, conveniently located just 5 minutes from the meeting center.

A fun tour led to some awesome photos, including snapshots with our amazing Customer Support staff you guys love so much, and then we said goodbye and returned to the hotel. There, the meeting came to a close following a short takeaway session led by Chief of Sales and Marketing Blake Davis and contributed to by many of our incredible, insightful 7k leaders.

Thank you to all those who expressed your gratitude and personal thoughts about the meeting, including 7k leader Sally May, who reminded us that “motivation is a lot like bathing…you need to do it all the time.”

Friday: Team-building and Testimonials

Friday was a big day; we began with a team-building activity that some of us got a little ‘tangled up’ in…a ropes course! Located at BYU-I, a university in Rexburg, Idaho, the course was demonstrated and taught by awesome instructors, who watched diligently while the rest of us figured out how not only to make it across the challenging course ourselves but to motivate and inspire our teammates to do it as well.

Pushing through struggle, fear, and even embarrassment, our 7k leaders pulled themselves forward and demonstrated through physical exertion what they teach their teammates in everyday life: If you don’t give yourself the option to give up, there’s only one more thing to do, and that’s to do the dang thing, even scared, even imperfectly. With a team of cheering friends at their backs and before them, your leaders proved they can do anything they set their minds to.

The Friday afternoon training session buzzed with energy after the excitement of the morning, and it was palpable as we were welcomed back into the meeting by Jayson Arfmann. We heard a few heartfelt testimonials from leaders Cathy Guzzo, Emily Manuel, and Danielle Roy, who each shared her story and why with us with beautiful honesty and vision.

Blake Davis then introduced the updated Wealth Strategies Presentation video with us, in character as a first-time presenter. Even though his promise of homemade snacks was empty, the rest of his training was packed full of helpful information about sharing the 7k message. Brand-new Executive Gold, Madiba Thompson—congrats, Madiba!—offered his examples of sharing, inspiring, and spreading the 7k message to new people.

And to top it all off, we heard from Co-Founder Zach Davis, who shared a deeply personal struggle that he and his family faced this past year to teach us that when true teamwork—empowering individuals to use their strengths to the advantage of the whole team and not choosing to enable teammates for our egos or personal gain—is applied to any situation, growth and success have the right environment to thrive in.

Saturday: The Founders Wrap It Up Together

The final morning of our Leadership Summit arrived on Saturday, and we were once more, and for the final time, welcomed by Jayson Arfmann. He recapped the lessons we’d been taught in many different but overlapping ways by the wonderful leaders we had heard from throughout the conference. Maureen Faulkner, Wayne Clark, and Charles Rudibaugh and Maral Yessayan shared their testimonials about 7k and the personal journeys that brought them to us.

Then, for the final couple of hours, we heard from our four Co-Founders: Zach Davis, Josh Anderson, Richard Hansen, and Roger Ball. In that time, we got to know each of them through the others’ eyes, hear some of their ambitions for the future of 7k, and come to better understand the hows and whys behind the 7k mission from the men who had the dream.

Leadership Summits are candid events; we strive to build strong relationships with those 7k leaders acting as our boots on the ground, interacting with their teams and Customers daily. We want to thank everyone who attended this year and hope there will be many more at the next one.

As the 7k team expands, we want to ensure that each person who joins knows our dream: to bring hope to the hopeless and significance to the successful. We are a company of dreamers, believers, and teammates united by a common goal of helping people by bringing them financial tools, community, and the opportunity to build toward something bigger than themselves.
