This award-winning coin was created as an homage to famed glass artisan and founder of the Tiffany Glass and Deoration Company, Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933). Tiffany was the inventor of a patented glass manufacturing process which added various colored substances to semi-melted sheets of glass to produce semi-opaque, often metallic glass creations. His work has been featured in architecture, furniture, windows, and, especially, his own jewelry stores. And now on coins. It seems everthing Tiffany Art touches is made more beautiful... and valuable.

What do you get when you combine the works of two masters of art? A masterpiece! This award-winning coin was created to marry the famous glass-artistry of Tiffany with the architectural style of the Italian Renaissance. And what a union it is! The forms depicted on both sides of the coin were created by renowned fresco painter, sculptor and architect, Michaelangelo Buonarotti. On the obverse of the coin is a window of his Plazzo Farnese in Rome and the reverse shows a section of the new Sacristy of San Lorenzo in Florence where Michaelangelo embellished the tomb chapel of the Medici family in 1520.

You're going to need a microscope to truly appreciate this one! Mannerism as an art-style refers to the late renaissance period between 1550-1600 and applies to the work of the great Michaelangelo's successors. The reverse of this award-winning coin depicts the Studiolo of the first Grand Prince of Tuscany, Cosimo de Medici (1519-1547). He had the best artists of the time decorate his private study in the Palazzo Vecchio. The obverse shows the famous Scala Regia of the Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola with its oval Tiffany glass window.
