Gold spot price hits record high

Gold spot price hits record high

gold Sep 8, 2025

On September 5 (yes, just last week!), gold hit an all-time high with a price of $3,599.61 per ounce.

As economic uncertainty climbs, prices on precious metals follow suit. That’s because when the reliability of fiat currency fluctuates, people feel unsure about the stability of their paper money and choose to invest in other assets. As Investing News Network writes, “Uncertainty has pushed the precious metal to record highs as market participants seek its perceived security.”

Other factors like the likelihood of interest rates being cut and more purchases in gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) also boosted the price.

Gold prices have steadily climbed since October 2024, when the price per ounce peaked at $2,788.36. In April 2025, another record high was set at about $3,500 an ounce.
